Understanding today’s political world requires understanding the motivations and actions of people who shaped it. Fortunately, records released under the Freedom of Information Act have finally given limited access to some of the classified information previously withheld from public view of the post WWII period.
Now we have a clearer window into what happened, who-did-what-to-whom, and what motivated them.
What have we discovered? Some frightening vistas to be sure — among them a glimpse of the Dulles brothers, the two major liegemen of American banks and corporations. [Below, (L) Allen Welsh Dulles, Director of the CIA, Feb 26, 1953 – Nov 29, 1961, and (R) John Foster Dulles, U.S. Secretary of State, 1953 – 1959.] Of course there were others, but the Dulles brothers were at the top of the power pyramid during the 30s, 40s and 50s.
The Dulles brothers were ultra conservative Republicans, extreme religious fundamentalists, and unrestrained haters of anything that deviated from their understanding of U.S. capitalism.
President Eisenhower unfortunately gave them a freehand. They took advantage of unlimited Defense Dept. funds, captured Nazi and Japanese wealth, and the military resources of the United States, to unleash CIA Black Ops on anyone who did not mesh with their perverted, psychopathic view of the “best interests of the United States”.
Their handiwork produced our current mutant, American plutocracy.
